Newbie command/help
To help the new players I think there should be a help command or tips of sorts. There are always humans coming from other vampirisms wondering where we got the loot/gold from. The command could be simple such as a -gold command to say and ping where the demonic merchant is to buy gold; it could also be an all out -help function that documents how to base, gather wood/gold etc.. but most players know these basics.

Re: Newbie command/help
It would be better that it just ping out at the middle by 3 minute saying Gold is now purchasable at the middle of the map.

Re: Newbie command/help
Yea but the -help could help with more then gold... Could say you want to line the outside of your base with Gold Mines...
Re: Newbie command/help
This would work but some people just don't read it.. Also the slayer pool is pinged in a similar fashion.. An on-demand -gold function might serve as an anti-cheat method as well!|cff0000ffClue wrote:It would be better that it just ping out at the middle by 3 minute saying Gold is now purchasable at the middle of the map.

Re: Newbie command/help
My personal experience is not that users don't necessarily read help messages, it's that the help messages do not attract attention to the players!!!
The easiest way to bring up these kind of messages is blinking messages and bright bright bright colors.

Re: Newbie command/help
If they don't read, just let it be. Serves them right for ignoring in-game tips display.
Re: Newbie command/help
The 2 comments above me are appalling.
It's not necessarily true that the players don't WANT to read tips and information. It might just be that they don't see the text. A friend of mine had no idea why everyone went to the slayer pool. He played many many times and never saw the announcement and pings on the map about the pool. I agree with him; it's not hard to miss.
Furthermore, I'd imagine that players would much rather try to stay alive in a somewhat quickly paced game. Maybe some players believe they can't be arsed to read tips when they have to take so much care in defending themselves.
Lastly, even if the new players don't want to read, we shouldn't shun them. We should be encouraging them to read. The more players, the more room this game has to grow. I understand that I say this a lot, but coming from a person who watched a game evolve over 7 years, I know that there is HUGE room for development of the game and of the abilities of the players.
In other words, be nice to the newbies. Help them along.

Re: Newbie command/help
I got an idea.
When they type -help.
It will show:
Visit www.vsportal.tk to read strategies and tutorials for vampirism speed.

Re: Newbie command/help
That is a great idea... Or they could read the characters also... I see lota new people looking at them...
Re: Newbie command/help
They will not know to type -help... Those kind of messages should be bluntly available without looking for it.
For example, in the loading screen; wait! it's already there!-.-

Re: Newbie command/help
There is and always has been plenty of knowledge available for those who are looking for it. I didn't start out as Pro, the first thing I did when starting vamp was reading guides online. If people can't be bothered to do even the smallest amount of legwork and follow a link *that is provided for them before every match even starts*, then they can go keel over for all I care. Ping the merchant at minute 3 if you must, but a good vamp will eat whatever you send to go buy gold.
